The 3 Human Qualities That Facilitate a Real Estate Transaction 🏡

When you think of a real estate transaction, you often think of interest rates, the asking price, inspections, or market conditions.

Yet, after several years of helping sellers and buyers, I’ve noticed that the transactions that go the smoothest often have something else in common.

They rest on three essential human qualities:

✅ Humility

✅ Communication

✅ Patience

These qualities may seem simple, but they often help reduce stress, avoid misunderstandings, and foster better decisions throughout the process.

1️⃣ Humility: accepting an outside perspective

When you’re selling a property, it’s perfectly normal to be attached to it.

After all, it’s often a place filled with memories, investments, and effort.

But buyers won’t necessarily see the property with the same eyes as we do.

They will compare your home to several other properties currently on the market.

Humility thus allows us to accept that an outside view can sometimes help us better understand the market reality and make better decisions.

For the real estate agent, humility is just as important.

It involves recognizing one’s limits, remaining open to feedback, and surrounding oneself with the right people when necessary.

2️⃣ Communication: the fuel of the transaction

A real estate transaction often involves several stakeholders:

🏠 Seller

🏠 Buyer

📋 Agents

🔎 Inspector

💰 Mortgage Lender

📏 Appraiser

✍️ Notary

As information flows more effectively, the risk of misunderstandings decreases.

Good communication isn’t just about transmitting information.

It also means listening, asking the right questions, and understanding everyone’s expectations.

In many cases, a few extra minutes of communication can prevent several days of complications.

3️⃣ Patience: a worthwhile investment

We live in a world where everything must be fast.

Yet, in real estate, some steps take time.

⏳ Document verification

⏳ Inspection

⏳ Financing

⏳ Offer analysis

⏳ Notary signing

Patience often helps avoid decisions made in the heat of the moment.

Taking a few hours or a few days to analyze a situation can sometimes make a big difference in the final outcome.

Real estate is more often a marathon than a sprint.

Conclusion

Of course, price, market, and interest rates remain important.

But the transactions that go most smoothly often rest on human qualities that will never change.

🤝 Humility

📞 Communication

⏳ Patience

When these three elements are present on both sides of the table, transactions generally become more fluid, less stressful, and more enjoyable for everyone.

And you?

Which of these three qualities do you think is the most important in a real estate transaction?
